I’m a runner—or at least, I was in the Before Times—who lives in New York, which is why my go-to sneaker is the Nike Revolution 4 (though, I do also own a 5). I like its ability to provide the utmost comfort while I jog on heated, hardened West Side Highway, along with its look: a wide toe with a narrow silhouette. Some fellas skate and are part of that whole culture. Others play basketball, or tennis. There are even those who have access to hiking trails and require their kicks have sturdier soles. It goes without saying that we all live different lives, doing different things. As a result, the concept of the best sneaker is all relative. What works for me, may not work for you—and that’s OK.
There are some sneakers, however, that surpass the idea of personal taste. From the New Balance 574 and the Adidas Superstar to the Puma Roma and Converse Chuck Taylor, these are the stalwarts, the ones that endure season after season, regardless of what is currently trending. And guess what? They are available on Amazon. So, if you’re a budding shoe collector, or just want sneakers that will stand the test of time, make sure to add them to cart. That’s the beauty of the behemoth retailer: It allows you to purchase them all in one swoop. Not that you have to—but I wouldn’t blame you.
